From the Alley to the Painting

The camera walks only sideways, at eye level. From an alley with a yellow ginkgo tree and a cat on the wall, push open the white door and step into a quiet white room — one slow lap, then a long pause before the piece that draws you in (hidden water-light and a distant boat slowly emerge from the painting), and the title only afterward. In the window just before the end, the very alley you passed on the way in hangs in gold, like the exhibition's last painting.
