The YouTube playlist “1 Minute Through Comments” (댓글로 보는 1분) is a vertical Shorts series that takes the best minute of a singing performance and overlays the most-liked comments posted under that performance as cards. As of October 5, 99 videos have been posted. The playlist description sums up the series in one sentence — “The songs are great, but some performances only feel complete once you've read the comments.”
Anatomy of a video — vertical, 60 seconds, 4–6 comment cards
Every video is 1080×1920 vertical and about 60 seconds long. It captures the continuous minute building to the climax of the original performance and overlays 4–6 comments, chosen by number of likes, as cards. The “Maria” Rock in Rio 2026 video opens with the ‘Brasil!’ shout and the first chorus, passes through the dance break, and closes with the final chorus sung along by the crowd, plus fireworks. The comment cards are colored in crimson and plum tones to match the stage lighting, and during the climax the cards are pulled so the stage can speak for itself. It's a rule that minimizes the moments when comments cover the screen.
The comments choose which minute to use
Comments are also what decide the segment. We look for the moments people left as timestamps and use those points.
- Ma I-jin (마이진), “Shaken Friendship” (흔들린 우정) — from the 1:24 highlight picked out in the comments through to the climax
- Brown Eyed Girls, “Abracadabra” — 1:00 and 2:00, the moments commenters replayed the most
- Petra Tyler, “Inyeon (Fate)” (인연) — from the end of the second verse to the final high-note climax
The title: “Song name” — the one moment the comments remember
After the song name, the title adds the scene that makes the performance memorable in one line — for example, “Lee Hyuk ‘TEARS’ — the high note that broke the comments first,” “Ali ‘Don't Worry, Dear’ (걱정말아요 그대) — the performance the comments called ‘irreplaceable’,” and “Kim Wan-sun ‘Let's Forget Now’ (이젠 잊기로 해요) — the night the whole audience sang along.” The description includes the performance details (event, year), a few of the comments featured in the video with their like counts (e.g. ♥5,500), and the source (the original channel or broadcast).
What got a response
As of October 5, the “Maria” Rock in Rio 2026 video has about 54,000 views and 900 likes, and the “Good Goodbye” video from the Blue Dragon Film Awards celebratory performance (Park Jeong-min's ‘Goodbye’ after being handed the mic) has about 8,200 views. Videos with a moment anyone would recognize on a big stage (a crowd singalong, a singer stepping down into the audience) came out ahead. The range is wide — from Uhm Jung-hwa's “Poison” (1998) and Yoo Seung-jun's “Passion” (열정) on the 1999 “Music Camp” (음악캠프) to ZARD, 松任谷由実, 阿悠悠, Miley Cyrus and a J.Fla cover — regardless of era or language.
How it relates to Somssii Shorts
This series is an example made in the comment Shorts format of the video production line behind Somssii Shorts. Because this format uses original performance footage, every video credits its source. The Somssii Shorts that members make themselves (shopping, business promotion, Instagram, YouTube highlights, live) don't cut up the source video; they're created fresh from a one-line request and the content of the reference URLs. If you'd like to run a series like this consistently for your channel, get in touch.
