Changes you make in the editor become an actual video only when you Make MP4. This page explains the difference between saving and making an MP4, the options in the Make MP4 dialog, the Jobs panel, and versions and reverting.
Saving and making an MP4 are different
| Save | Make MP4 | |
|---|---|---|
| What it does | Stores the edit state on the server as version Edit vN | Turns the edit into an actual video (MP4) |
| Video on the Shorts page | Unchanged | Replaced with the new video if you choose Replace gallery video |
| Time required | Instant | About 2–5 minutes (depending on video length and the queue) |
| When to use | Along the way, or to continue on another device | When you're done editing |
Clicking Make MP4 also saves your edit. If you click it without changing anything, the current published version is simply made again.
The Make MP4 dialog
- Platform — Shorts · Reels · TikTok · Naver Clip · As is. Any option other than As is produces a 1080×1920 vertical video.
- Where — Replace gallery video (replaces the video on your Shorts page with the new one) / File only (leaves the video as is and just gives you the MP4 file).
- Quality (Intermediate and up) — High · Default · Standard.
- Also get caption file (SRT) — also creates an SRT file you can upload as YouTube captions.
- Check: {e} errors · {w} warnings — remaining check results. You can click to fix them before making the video, or make it as is.
- Export range — if you've set a range (I/O) on the timeline, only that part is made. Clear it with Export full video.
- Estimated time and the number of MP4s left this hour.
In Beginner mode, the same options appear on the Export tab (Where will you post? · Your videos · Check · Make MP4).
An end screen containing a legal notice (source credits, ad disclosures, etc.) must be clearly visible in the video for at least 2 seconds. If your export range leaves out the end screen, you'll see “The end screen with the legal notice is missing” — click Include the end screen.
Jobs panel — tracking progress
Click Jobs at the top to open the Jobs panel. An MP4 goes from Queued (#{n}) through the stages Preparing · Preparing video · Drawing · Audio · Encoding · Checking · Publishing, showing {pct}% · about {n} min; when it's finished, you'll see Done along with the buttons View new video · Download MP4 · Gallery · Keep editing. While you wait, you can keep editing or close the window (jobs stay in the list for 7 days). Queued jobs can be canceled.
A video made with Replace gallery video also replaces the old one in My Workspace and on the Shorts result page within a few minutes. If it doesn't change right away, refresh after a moment.
Versions · reverting
Click the title (“Published ▾”) to open the version list.
- Published version — the video currently published on your Shorts page. Revert to published starts over from the published state (saved versions are kept, and you can come back with ↶).
- Edit v1, v2 … — saved edits. ✓MP4 marks versions that were also made into an MP4. Open one with Load this version. You can filter the list with My edits only.
- Code v1 … — code versions saved in Developer mode (opening one switches to Developer mode).
If you see one of these notices
- “You have unsaved edits in this browser” — edits you closed last time without saving. Choose Continue or Discard.
- “Someone else saved in the meantime” — another device (or another admin) saved. Choose Open theirs or Keep mine.
- “The published video changed in the meantime” — a new MP4 was made elsewhere. For code-motion videos, choose Sync to new published version; otherwise, Continue anyway (you'll need to confirm overwriting it the next time you Make MP4).
Limits
| What | Limit |
|---|---|
| Make MP4 | 30 per hour, 1 at a time (“A video is already being made”) |
| Video length | Up to 180 seconds |
| Save | 60 per hour, projects up to 3MB |
| Editing assistant (Edit by asking · refined auto-edit · Thorough review) | 20 per hour · 60 per day (Style match uses 3 per run, up to 3 runs per hour) |
| New recordings | 20 sentences per hour |
| File uploads | Photos 30MB · videos 300MB · audio 100MB, 2GB per day |
Editing and re-making MP4s don't use any credits. When many videos are being made at once, you'll see “Lots of videos are being made right now. Please try again shortly.”
